Weighted Blankets

I make and sell made-to-order weighted blankets for kids, teens, and adults.

Weighted blankets have been a part of my family’s life for nearly five years. Each of my four children, two of which have been diagnosed with autism and ADHD, used to have trouble sleeping. My oldest, one of the two with autism and ADHD, also has a lot of anxiety. To help my children, I made a weighted bed comforter for my three oldest and small weighted blanket for each of them. Since then, the comforters and blankets have helped my children to sleep better and my oldest to self-regulate and calm down when anxious.

Who may benefit from using a weighted blanket?

Kids, teens, and adults who have one or more of the following.

  • ADHD
  • Anxiety disorder
  • Autism
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Insomnia or other sleep disorder
  • Panic disorder
  • Restless legs syndrome
  • Sensory processing disorder

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD — Small parts. Not for children under 3 years. Weighted blankets should never be used to restrain a person, or to restrict their movement. Weighted blankets should never go past the shoulders, and should never cover the head.

How do I care for a weighted blanket?

As fabric tends to wear with use and how quickly it wears depends on its use, I recommend that you regularly inspect the weighted blanket for wear. Any holes in the fabric may lead to the non-toxic plastic pellets dislodging from the weighted blanket at which point the weighted blanket should be mended or discarded.

To limit the wear of the weighted blanket, I recommend that you wash it by hand. If you must machine wash it, I recommend that you do so using a gentle cycle and air dry flat or tumble dry on low. Before machine washing and/or drying the weighted blanket, please refer to the machines’ owners’ manuals to ensure the washer and dryer can support the weight of the weighted blanket.

How can I get a weighted blanket?

My weighted blankets are made-to-order using the size, weight, and fabric color of your choosing. Please review the available size, weight, and fabric color options before placing an order.

Size and Weight

Each weighted blanket is weighted using non-toxic plastic pellets. The general rule of thumb for weight is 10% of the person’s body weight. If it’s for a child who is still growing, it’s okay to order a little heavier weighted blanket. For example, if the child weighs 50 pounds, 10% would be 5 pounds, but it would be okay to get a 6 pound weighted blanket.

A lap pad helps to calm wiggles and improve focus while a blanket helps individuals calm down to relax and self regulate. Small and medium sizes can be folded and used as a lap pad. Our large size is great for using on a bed. When used during sleep weighted blankets can improve the quantity and quality of sleep.

Fabric Color

Each weighted blanket is made with flannel fabric. Color combinations are subject to availability and can change without notice. I will confirm the availability of your desired color combination before fulfilling your order.

How long will it take to get my weighted blanket?

It takes me about four to six hours to make a weighted blanket, but sometimes I have to space that time out over a week or two. Remember the four children I mentioned previously? It also depends on how many orders are ahead of yours. I fulfill all orders in the order that I receive them.
